![]() There are literally hundreds of 1.13 builds, but 7609 is a stable build from 2014 that is used by many major mods. The GOG installer gives you everything you need to create fresh JA2 installations without any DRM or risk of having your files automatically updated.Īs far as mods for a first time player, I would suggest playing 1.13 v.7609. While you can make most mods work via a Steam installation it takes a lot more effort. Wildfire, Gold, Unfinished Business, and all the other variants of the game aren't very well supported by the mod community. I would strongly suggest buying base Jagged Alliance 2 on GOG.com I haven't really been in the modding world for JA2 in a decade, but this was the most active place. ![]() If you want to go crazy, visit the Bear's Pit. That's the one that most of the modders are using. They call the mod version 1.13 because JA2 Gold's final version was 1.12. It includes the original Unfinished Business expansion and retroactively applies all that DLC goodness to the base game.įlashback, Rage, Back in Action, and Crossfire are all newer games that have tried to capture that JA2 spirit but haven't really succeeded.įor modding, get Jagged Alliance 2 Gold. Jagged Alliance 2 Gold is like the "game of the year edition" even though it was published by a different publisher as well. Looks like from the comments on Steam that this doesn't really work anymore, however. Jagged Alliance 2: Classic is a DLC for Wildfire (sort of) that is the original, unaltered source code of JA2. It was released 5 years after the original game by a different publisher. Better support for higher resolution, more mercs, a harder campaign. Jagged Alliance 2 Wildfire: This is the expanded version which, as I hear it, was demanded by JA2's expansive German fanbase. Here's a rundown on the versions you're seeing: So which Version supports this one.Īnd i hope this game still have the German Synchronisation. So please help me.Īnd i read about the version 1.13 which Adds massive amount of content. Now i am completly confused and really don't know what to buy. But the reviews on GOG are very negative.īesides that on Steam there is Jagged Alliance 2 Gold and Jagged Alliance 2 Classic. Now i did a little bit of research and it seems like Wildfire is the full JA2 expirience with some added content which sounds very nice. The normal one is 10 € and Wildfire is 5 €. On GOG there is Jagged Alliance 2: Wildfire and Jagged Alliance 2. So after all the years i finnaly baught a PC again and want to play this game again. Till today i call it besides Fallout 2 and Gothic 2 one of my favorite games. Tried this with JA2 builds 87.So I played as a Teenager back in the 2000s this awesome game for a few years. I'm running Windows 10 Home, version 20H2. I'm currently running it in 1280 x 800 full screen on a 1920x1200 display. JA2 should not be set to run in windowed mode via the ini editor. I'm running my ja2.exe in Windows 7 compatibility mode, reduced color mode (16-bit) and as administrator. dll's, because they make my airspace map a garbled mess. I've applied the registry fix but am not using the wined3d. If I don't run JA2 as admin, it won't go to full screen properly, it's weird. ![]() If your ja2 exe is set to run as administrator, you'll need to run DXWnd as administrator, too. Other stuff to consider for troubleshooting: ![]() Now you can either double click the JA2 icon in the DXWnd window or just leave DXWnd running in the background and launch your JA2 exe as you normally would. "JA2" or whatever for 'Name', then the path of your exe, like "C:\Games\Jagged Alliance 2\ja2.exe" for the 'Path' and 'Launch path'.Ĭheck the options 'Fullscreen only' and 'Keep aspect ratio' and uncheck the option 'Run in Window'.Ĭlick OK, then save the profile through File -> Save. (protected folders like 'Program Files' might cause problems, idk.)Īdd a profile for JA2 by going to Edit -> Addįill in the name, path, and launch fields, e.g. Right now I've got the best of both worlds with the help of DXWnd.Įxtract DxWnd somewhere, for example C:\DxWnd\ My JA2 1.13 has been running fine, but so far I've had to choose between being able to alt-tab (with wined3d) OR seeing the airspace map clearly. I'm a couple months late to the conversation but thought I'd leave a reply in case someone googles this or whatever. ![]()
